Movies by the Lake

Join us the third Friday in July through October at Aberdeen Lake Park to enjoy family movies on the big screen. Admission is free and concessions will be available for purchase.

The Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department, along with our various sponsors present the following movies:

  • September 21 at 7:45 p.m. – Cars 3
  • October 19 at 7:15 p.m. – A Wrinkle in Time

*Rain dates will be the same time, the following day

Cheerleading

Basketball season is not far away and Parks & Rec is looking for children ages 4-12 that can show their team spirit for Aberdeen’s winter basketball league.  The cheerleaders will learn basic cheers, jumps, kicks, and much more.  To download a registration form, click here

Registration deadline is November 16th. 
Cost is $30 for residents and $45 for non-residents.

Malcolm Blue Festival 

Saturday, September 22

Malcolm Blue Farm            

At Malcolm Blue Farm Day, you will enjoy artisan work of all kinds, such as blacksmithing, pine needle basket weaving, quilting, bees making honey, wood carving, cloggers, storytelling, potters, and many more. Children can roll hoops, walk on stilts, make old-fashioned crafts, sample homemade foods in the farmhouse kitchen, ride in a horse drawn wagon, and even pet the farm animals and ride on a pony.

Admission: $5 for ages 5-up, $20 max for families, children under 5 are free. 

Fall-O-Ween

Saturday, October 20

11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Join us at Aberdeen Lake Park for fun carnival games, inflatables and a climbing wall. This event is for children ages 15 and under.  Cost is $5 per child and gets the kids on all games, inflatables, face painting, and climbing wall.

There will be food truck vendors and ice cream. Aberdeen Fire & Police Departments will be passing out Halloween safety tips and information for children.  We encourage everyone to put on their best costume and join us for the fun!  

 

Tree Lighting

Thursday, December 6

The Depot in Historic Downtown Aberdeen

Witness the lighting of the Christmas tree and the arrival of Santa with special performances. Enjoy light refreshments while listening to “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”  

Supper with Santa

Friday, December 7

Children $5, Adults $10, Non-resident Adults $15

Join the Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department for a catered dinner from Texas Roadhouse, holiday crafts, and watch Frosty the Snowman as you hang out with Santa! Tickets are on sale at the Aberdeen Recreation Center.

Christmas Parade

Old Fashioned Christmas

Thursday, December 8
1:00-5:00 p.m. 
Malcolm Blue Farm

The farmhouse will be open and decorated in the fashion of the period. Music and light refreshments will be provided. The pack house will be open with children’s activities such as letters to Santa with feather pens and making bird feeders. The museum will also be open to visitors. Come celebrate Christmas, in the spirit of the 1820s!

Let's Go Fishing

Aberdeen Parks and Recreation Department has rods and reels available for rent inside the Aberdeen Recreation Center Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.  The rental is free for residents and $3 for non-residents.  


NC state law requires ages 16 and up to have a fishing license.  A 10 day license is available at Wal-Mart for $5.  Ages 16 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Town of Aberdeen Parks & Recreation Department's Fee Policy 

The Parks and Recreation Department is an agency of the Town of Aberdeen and receives municipal tax revenue paid by residents living inside the corporate limits of the Town.  Others who live outside the corporate limits are charged a higher rate for participation in our programs because they do not pay Town taxes.

 

The policy for application of this fee differential is as follows:

You must live inside the corporate limits of Aberdeen at the time of your registration in order to be charged the Town of Aberdeen resident rate.  All others will be charged the non-resident rate.

Refunds of fees paid for most activities will be made under certain conditions.  For allowed refunds, there may be a refund fee of up to $5.00.  Refunds are not available after the activity registration deadline except for substantial hardships.  Complete refund policy is available upon request from the Parks and Recreation Department.
